Having Ice Cream at De Drentse Koe
A visit to our family play farm with its own ice cream isn’t complete for many families without our locally made ice cream from Drenthe. Children can play first and then choose a flavour together. Of course, you can also visit us just for the ice cream.
Our ice cream counter offers a wide selection of familiar and changing flavours. As well as ice cream, you can get drinks, snacks, sandwiches, toasted sandwiches and cakes from our food and drinks area. So there’s something for everyone to choose from.
De Drentse Koe offers plenty of space to spend a whole day together. Outdoors, you’ll find pedal go-karts, a bouncy castle, a zip line and the pump track. During the season, visitors can also explore the maize maze. Elsewhere in the park, children can get up close to the animals and cows.
Even when the weather isn’t on your side, children can keep playing. The play barns offer space to climb, bounce and explore. In the new heated play barn, different play areas are spread across several spaces, including activities in the basement.

The story of our ice cream begins on the family farm in Dwingeloo. The milk forms the basis for the ice cream we have been making according to our own recipe since 1999.
The short journey from fresh milk to ice cream reflects the way we work: clear, careful and without unnecessary steps. Our ice cream is creamy, full of flavour and simply made to be enjoyed.

What started as an addition to the farm has grown into a well-known local product. Drentse Koe IJs is now available not only at De Drentse Koe Ice Cream Farm, but also at various sales points throughout Drenthe.
The name De Drentse Koe now stands for more than just ice cream. The farm has grown into a family play farm where families can play indoors and outdoors, enjoy good food and spend a day out together.
From the cowshed to the ice cream counter
The basis remains close to home. Milk from the family farm is used to make ice cream according to a set recipe. In this way, the story that begins in the cowshed eventually finds its way into an ice cream at De Drentse Koe in Ruinerwold.

How the Ice Cream Van Works
- Service at your location.
- Choice of 4 different ice cream flavours.
- Guests can choose one or more scoops of ice cream.
- Ice cream is served in a cone or tub.
- We generally stay at the location for around 1 hour. For larger groups, we’ll agree the required time with you in advance.

- Travel fee: €75.00
- 1 scoop: €2.00 per person

The ice cream van can be booked for locations up to 30 kilometres from De Drentse Koe and for groups of at least 80 people.

An ice cream box is prepared at De Drentse Koe by arrangement. Please clearly state the collection date, flavours and quantities when placing your order.
Book the ice cream cart
The ice cream van travels to locations up to 30 kilometres from De Drentse Koe. The date is confirmed once the request and arrangements have been agreed.
